Written on an old box car in the middle of the open plains near Ft. Morgan, Colorado. What does this mean, and who wrote it? A google search hinted at Mooski’s rap song about a girl he loves that runs away like a track star. Maybe that, or maybe someone is simply confessing their love to the local track star in town… Maybe the track star is the person writing this and just wanted to sign his/her name. The exclamation point makes me think that maybe there was someone else involved and now “you” needs to be emphasized…
We saw this on the way to play disc golf to get prepared for some upcoming tournaments. This looks like we went to Mars because I configured my digital Fugifilm X100VI with a redscale film recipe. Redscale is a film camera technique in which the film is rolled and loaded backward, so that the red emulsion layer is activated by light first, before the other color tones. I’ve never tried it with film, but the results with digital look pretty close to what those look like. For nerds more interested, there’s a great book called, “A Systematic Redscale Review” by Lena E.M. Schaack. She turns a bunch of different film stocks into redscale film and has examples of the results. Chemistry and the whole science of film is fascinating! Second to that is the emersion of digital cameras that can replicate some of these qualities by adding a film simulation filter and tweaking it with adjustments to dynamic range, grain effect, white balance, and more.
Here’s some other photos from the trip. Shared photo credit to Alex Vogel.at
